The world is reaching a boiling point—socially and climatically.
Overheated debates collide with actual global warming; national isolationism clashes with global crises. Lines of conflict are hardening as temperatures rise. We need decisive, future-oriented answers to burning questions—and spaces where these can be explored together.
For the grand finale prior to its renovation, Kampnagel is opening up all its halls—radically, expansively, and with a multitude of voices. Under the banner HITZE.HEAT., Live Art Festival #16 becomes a platform for artistic engagement, practices of solidarity, and thinking that transcends boundaries. In the climate crisis, the rule is clear: those who think only of themselves turn up the heat on everyone else. For several days, Kampnagel transforms into a shared, navigable sculpture. Music, video, performance, and discussion intertwine, linking climate, society, and political power.
What is climate justice? How are heat, migration, bodies, water, and responsibility connected?
And who actually gets to cool down?
For three evenings, the Migrantpolitan garden becomes an open space for exchange, movement, Pool Parliament, and cooling drinks. Accessible, non-academic, and on equal terms — for artists, activists, visitors, and everyone who wants to listen, think along, or join the conversation.
Nobody has to get into the water. But everyone is invited to move closer to the questions.

Überhitzte Debatten treffen auf reale Erderwärmung, nationale Abschottung auf globale Krisen. Die Konfliktlinien verhärten sich, während die Temperaturen steigen. Es braucht entschlossene, zukunftsfähige Antworten auf brennende Fragen – und Räume, in denen sie gemeinsam erprobt werden können.
Zum großen Finale vor der Sanierung öffnet Kampnagel alle Hallen – radikal, weit und vielstimmig. Unter dem Motto HITZE.HEAT. wird das Live Art Festival #16 zur Plattform für künstlerische Auseinandersetzung, solidarische Praxis und grenzüberschreitendes Denken. Gerade in der Klimakrise gilt: Wer nur an sich denkt, heizt allen ein. Für mehrere Tage verwandelt sich Kampnagel in eine gemeinsam begehbare Skulptur. Musik, Video, Performance und Diskussion greifen ineinander und verknüpfen Klima, Gesellschaft und politische Macht.
Was ist Klimagerechtigkeit? Wie hängen Hitze, Migration, Körper, Wasser und Verantwortung zusammen?
Und wer darf sich eigentlich abkühlen?
Im Garten des Migrantpolitan entsteht für drei Abende ein offener Raum für Austausch, Bewegung, Pool Parlament und kühlende Drinks. Zugänglich, nicht akademisch und auf Augenhöhe – für Künstler\*innen, Aktivist\*innen, Besucher*innen und alle, die zuhören, mitdenken oder mitreden möchten.
Niemand muss ins Wasser. Aber alle sind eingeladen, näher an die Fragen heranzurücken.

International Summer Festival 2026
The International Summer Festival at Kampnagel will take place from August 5 to August 23, 2026. This renowned festival transforms the entire grounds into a melting pot of contemporary theater, dance, music, and performance art. The Avant-Garten: The heart of the festival. This open-air area on the grounds serves as a central meeting point, featuring food and drink, art installations, and concerts. Admission to this area is generally free of charge. Those wishing to toast to "the old new times" can do so—ideally before or after (or, alright, even *during*) the performances—in the Avant-Garten: the most hopeful place to emerge since the advent of festival amusement parks, featuring a daily program on the Waldbühne stage, at the Migrantpolitan, or presented by the festival’s own "ever-greens." This year, our cultural association has the opportunity to help shape three of the performances.

Internationales Sommerfest 2026
Das Internationale Sommerfestival auf Kampnagel findet 2026 vom 05. bis 23. August 2026 statt. Das renommierte Festival verwandelt das gesamte Gelände in einen Schmelztiegel aus zeitgenössischem Theater, Tanz, Musik und Performances. Avant-Garten: Das Herzstück des Festivals. Der Open-Air-Bereich auf dem Gelände dient als Treffpunkt mit Gastronomie, Kunst-Installationen und Konzerten. Der Eintritt hierfür ist meist kostenlos. Wer auf die alten neuen Zeiten anstoßen will, kann das am besten vor oder nach (na gut, auch: während) der Vorstellungen im Avant-Garten machen — dem hoffnungsvollsten Ort, seit es Festivalvergnügungsparks gibt, mit täglichem Programm auf der Waldbühne, im Migrantpolitan oder von den Festival-everneon-greens. Unseren Kulturverein hat dieses Jahr die Chance, 3 Performances mitzugestalten.
KAMILA BATAVIA, also known as "The Princess of Batavia"—is a multilingual singer-songwriter and storyteller who draws inspiration from classical songs, European and Southeast Asian influences, poetry, and deep emotion. With *BAROQUE GALACTIC*, she creates a universe of her own—a blend of baroque opulence and mythical futurism—performed in Indonesian, English, and German. This can be heard on her debut EP, *THE SCENT OF CAMELLIAS* (2025), and experienced live on the Waldbühne stage.
KAMILA BATAVIA, auch bekannt als »The Princess of Batavia«, ist eine mehrsprachige Singer-Songwriterin und Geschichtenerzählerin, die aus klassischen Liedern, europäischen und südost-asiatischen Einflüssen, Poesie und Emotionalität schöpft. Mit BAROQUE GALACTIC erschafft sie ein eigenes Universum aus barocker Opulenz und mythischem Futurismus, auf Indonesisch, Englisch und Deutsch; zu hören auf ihrer Debüt-EP THE SCENT OF CAMELLIAS (2025) und live auf der Waldbühne.
LORY is a German-Cameroonian singer whose sound navigates the space between Afrobeats and R&B, blending modern production with cultural influences. She sings in German and French, exploring themes such as love, self-discovery, and personal experiences. Together with percussionist and guitarist Ibo, she brings her sound to the Waldbühne, enriching it with their shared influences and a unique live energy.
LORY ist eine deutsch-kamerunische Sängerin, deren Sound sich zwischen Afrobeats und RnB bewegt und moderne Produktionen mit kulturellen Einflüssen verbindet. Sie singt auf Deutsch und Französisch und verarbeitet Themen wie Liebe, Selbstfindung und persönliche Erfahrungen. Gemeinsam mit dem Perkussionisten und Gitarristen Ibo bringt sie ihren Sound auf die Waldbühne und erweitert ihn um gemeinsame Einflüsse und eine besondere Live-Energie.
Every year, stars from diverse cultures gather at Migrantpolitan for a jam session. Beforehand, there is a concert featuring these stars from Hamburg: MIRAGE WORLD BAND. Five people—five countries—five cultures—united in one band. This is music from the world, for the world, in our very own world: Migrantpolitan, followed by an open stage for jamming.
Jedes Jahr treffen sich im Migrantpolitan Stars aus verschiedenen Kulturen zur Jam-Session. Vorher gibt es ein Konzert mit diesen Stars aus Hamburg: MIRAGE WORLD BAND. Fünf Menschen – fünf Länder – fünf Kulturen – gemeinsam in einer Band. Das ist Musik aus der Welt, für die Welt, in unserer eigenen Welt: Migrantpolitan mit anschließender Open-Stage zum Jammen.
